Arrival
The ferry landing at night . . .
It's worthwhile to come before the ferry arrives, when it's so quiet that you can hear the murmur of the water, and a gull's call carries across the inlet.
How gracefully the ferry glides to shore, its lights ablaze, the water churning.

Pleasing to the Eye
Today in Port Townsend I was intent on -- enjoying Port Townsend. But halfway through the afternoon I realized that I need souvenirs of the day.
What would I photograph with my smart phone? No idea.
But Port Townsend is full of surprises.
I've passed this little marina dozens of times. But on this summer afternoon it was bright with light and color.

As I was just saying . . .
This is how it looked on Friday afternoon from the Coupeville library on Whidbey Island, Washington.
I teach piano. On an afternoon when I'm not teaching, I come here to the library to do all the computer things that come with teaching. And when I look up from the screen, this is what I see -- on a sunny day, anyway.
And when I'm done, I go outside into the cool air, and walk down the street, out onto the timbered walkway of the wharf.
The view from the wharf . . .
. . . and . . .
